This post will focus on the design space exploration of dataset we have.
The work will use different marks and channels to explore the data.
In this post, I will focus on exploring eight dimensions, namely;
1. Number dialysis facilities in each states of USA,
2. Standard Ratio Category text according each facility by States
The standard category ratio text is a numerical measurement of performance of each dialysis facility in US. Based on National Standard Ratio, a facility can be rated as, Better than Expected, Expected, worse than expected and Not Available for Hospitals with Patients <= 5.
The National Average Standard Ratio = 1.00, and any facility that has a score of < 1.00 =Better than expected, equals to 1.00 =As Expected, and >1.00=Worse than expected.
This exploration will consider four dimensions under the classification category, these are;
- Hospitalization
- Infection
- Transfusion
- Fistula
Facility name by States
The visual above showed the number of dialysis facility by states. From the graph, the state of Texas has the highest number dialysis facility, with California following then followed by Florida, Illinois and Ohio, Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, respectively.
Patient Hospitalization category text
Generally, the visual shows the same pattern with visual for facility names by state with Texas leading with high number 'as expected' facilities
Patient transfusion category text
Again, here the pattern of performance remain the same, but a closer look showed that better than Expected score is fewer here than hospitalization category
Patient Infections category text
The infection category graph showed that there are more Better than Expected rating than the previous, but California has higher Better than expected, and worse than expected almost vanish from the graph. the visual pattern still remain the same with the previous.
Fistula category text
The fistula graph showed again that the 'As Expected category is largest i n Texas, but better than expected is more in California.
